I've tried Pandora a few times, albeit quite a while ago, and it never worked for me. I never liked the music I got back. But last week, I forgot my iPod at work one day and tried A Tribe Called Quest as my station, and bingo! I hit paydirt. Pete Rock, Black Star, Common, etc. Lots of fun. Now I understood why people loved Pandora so much.
Today is a miserable day in Portland. It's the kind of rainy day that people who don't live here think we have all the time. So I set up a station for The Sundays, real comfort music for me, and got back all kinds of nice surprises: "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star, "Sweet Jane" by Cowboy Junkies, "Feed the Trees" by Belly, some songs by Innocence Mission, and - here was the killer - "Half a Person" by The Smiths. Herewith, I propose a new radio station called KSAD: mopey music for the overly sensitive who came of age in the 90s.
I am COMPLETELY copping KSAD from you. I use Pandora all the time and have struggled to find the Saddest Music in the World. You've just provided a public service!

Oh, as soon as I heard, "Call me morbid, call me pale", I thought, I'm home!
